Found M1 Garand Ammo Clip at Hagushi Beach

On April 1st 2005, I headed down to Hagushi ( toguchi ) beach to see the location where the US Marines had landed 60 years ago to the day ( April 1st 1945 ). Once I got there and got ready to take a few photo, it turns out that my camera battery was dead. I got there during low tide and desided while im here I would walk around the reef and look in the pools maybe some Okinawan sealife. Most of the reef there is covered in the green stuff, not really sure what the name of it is. As I was walking around the very edge of the reef near where the waves where breaking. Something caught my eye, it was green like most of the stuff in the tide pools where but there was something different about it. I also had that kinda green that happens when metal is corroding. I knew from the past not just reach down and pick it up to see what is. So I took my time and make sure it was not something else like a lost hand grenade. I really wish my camera battery was not dead. After I picked it up out the water I, I could tell right away it was M1 Garand ammo clip. The rounds where not live anymore they had corroded away, but they where still packed in the clip just like the day they where issused.

I went back a few weeks later when it was low tide again, with a fully loaded camera in search of more items. I spent about 4 hours out on the reef and only found a old coke bottle.

Location: Hagushi Beach.
